Behind The Eyes - Enhancing Eye Makeup Techniques

As superficial as some may view makeup, I’ve never met a woman who didn’t respond positively when her exterior was finessed. When our spirits sore, the inner beauty that expresses itself visually through us is untouchable. But sometimes we need a little help from outside to make that connection inwardly. One feeds the other. So go inside, but when you come out, don’t forget about your exterior window treatments. Coloring your exterior:
That is the hundred-dollar question. What eye shadow color, how many colors, and where do I put them? Believe it or not less is sometimes more in this situation. More is more when it comes to winning the lottery, but too much makeup can detract from the features and instead of enhancing for romancing, the face looks like it was high jacked by a group of gay terrorists.
If you have mastered your own eyes with a simple, but effective eye design, then you are licensed to build on that premise and add more colors hence increasing dimension. But know the basics before you compete with “that girl” that’s sits at the next cubical.
One version of a basic, but beautiful eye needs two colors, one light and one dark for contrast. The darkest color usually takes the focus and attention of the eye treatment, therefore placement is everything. Most of us are privy to the fact that if you have slightly wide set eyes (Oprah) then you should focus the darkest color towards the middle and inner corner of your eyes. If you are close set (Babs) then go in the other direction, softly putting emphasis on the outer corners. If I’m boring you I do apologies. So here are some universal, no brainer recipes that look good on most of us. Wide set girls please pass first diagram and go to 2A …Thank you.
Eye Make-up Technique 1A - Close set gals, and most of their pals - general population: (The simplicity with this treatment works correctively with close-set bombshells or balanced bells. With a fresh lid and shading on the outer corner, the darker shading will add incredible dimension to the lids with a bit of lift and extension at the same time.)
Apply an off white, cream, or a pale milky pink to ¾ of your upper eyelid starting at the inner corner. Take the second darker color, and with a small brush shade the outer lid with your chin slightly lifted in the mirror (let them make their own breakfast). Shade from the outer corner inwardly. And for God sakes, line the top eyelid with some eyeliner liner to finish it!

EYELINER SEGWAY:
Do's
Do line just the top lash line.
or
Do line both top and bottom lash line
Dont's
Don’t line just the bottom lash line - it drags the eye down, looks bottom heavy, and has the look of the top ten worst music videos of 1982
Eye Make-up Technique 2A - Wide set wonders or slightly turned down / droopy eyes: (This little classic design keeps the viewer focused at the center of your peepers, where the most flattering focal point of your eyes reside)
Apply a light to medium light, fresh color on you entire top lid. With a slightly fluffy, medium size crease brush, initiate the second, darker color in the middle of the eye socket. Rock the brush back and forth, creating a half moon in the crease area, slightly approaching the inner corner. Although the darkest color is traveling towards the inner corner, it must be delicate and tapered as it arrives. The finished eye contour must look centered detracting from the “ outward problem”.
Shopping for Colors
With regards to what colors to choose, the highlight colors mentioned early are neutral enough due to the fact that they are highlighters. My only caution is if you have pink lids because of veining or skin sensitivity, stay away from pink highlight shadows.
When choosing a dark contrasting color, there are many approaches. Here is one. Choose an accent color that is opposite of your own eye colour. The two colors side by side (your natural eye color and the eye shadow) intensify each other instead of competing. The opposite color doesn’t necessarily mean you work with it in its purest form. If you have blue eyes, I’m not suggesting you plaster your eyelids with pumpkin orange. You could choose a dynamic gray that has a breath of orange in it. Recognize the difference between classic shades (straight colors) and contemporary shades that contains nuances of a second supporting color whispering through.
Blue eyes: Try a “ browny orange “ the amount of orange may be extremely subtle but effective in popping those babies.
Hazel green eyes: Perhaps a pimento brown – this contains a subtle red undertone that is cooled & tamed by the dominating brown.
Hazel green eyes with yellow flex will dance when accompanied by grays & taupes that have a soft violet support.
Brown eyes: What shade of brown are you winking with? Do you see yellow brown? A speckle of green?
Once you determine the other supporting colour that makes up the brown in your iris, grab the colour wheel and go shopping. At the very least take this concept to the boutique or makeup studio with your next visit. Remember, there is always a little magic when opposition works harmoniously.

Eye Makeup Ideas

Use eye makeup ideas to enhance your eyes and hide any flaws. Learn about your options here.
It can be great fun to experiment with eye make up. Many women stick to a few “safe” neutral tones and leave it at that but there are many different ways to make up the eyes. Don't be afraid to try the tips below.
The right eye make up can enhance your eyes and hide any flaws. Types of eye make up include eye liner, eye shadow, mascara and fake lashes. Here are a few eye make up ideas.
Daytime Look
Use these eye makeup ideas for a daytime look. A daytime look should be fresh and subtle. You can apply a brown or black eye liner (brown is best for fair hair and skin) around the eyes or only on the top lid, and blend it gently using your finger.
Next, apply one shade of eye make up. A light color is good for daytime use. Brown or peach eye shadow looks nice with blue eyes. Browns, forest green, hazel or violet eye shadow is pretty with green or hazel eyes. If your eyes are brown, you can wear pretty much any eye make up color.
Finish up with a coat of mascara to match your eye liner. Brown or black mascara is best for daytime use, but maroon or navy blue can also look good, depending on the rest of your eye make up. If you want a simple, natural look, you can apply a small amount of pale eye shadow (taupe or light pink perhaps) and a coat of mascara.
Smoky Eyes
This is a great look for the evening, whether you are going to a party or out with friends. The smoky look suits most people. To get it, you need to apply a neutral tone, such as beige, over the whole lid, to work as a base for the eye liner.
Dip an eye liner brush into dark shadow (choose black, brown, charcoal or black mixed with bright blue) and tap off any excess powder. With your eye closed, press the brush along the eyelid into the base of the lashes. Repeat this for more color and under the eye too if you choose. Smudge the eye liner upwards with a cotton swab, until you have the desired effect and both eyes look the same. For more in depth information on smoky eye makeup please see the smoky eye makeup page.
Dramatic Eye Makeup
Another of the eye makeup ideas to consider is dramatic eye makeup. This is a lot of fun to do. Remember you can experiment as much as you like with dramatic eye make up and remove your efforts easily if it goes wrong! It is possible nowadays to get eye make up in pretty much any color and you can also use false eye lashes or glitter to further enhance your eyes.

One dramatic eye make up style is to first apply black kohl to the upper and lower rims of the eyes. Then prime the eyelids by dusting them with some loose powder. Next, choose shades of the same color, which are going to be blended. You might choose three shades of purple, or bright orange, peach and yellow. With dramatic eye make up, anything goes!
Apply the lighter shade all over the eye area, from the brow to the eyes. Apply the medium toned shade to the eyelids. Using an eye shadow brush, apply the darkest shade along the crease of your eyelid. Blend the shadow using the brush. You can use pressed powder to tone down the effect if it is too much. Finish with a couple of coats of dark mascara or false eyelashes and you’re ready to hit the town!
I hope that these eye makeup ideas will help you to look your best for any occasion.

Cool Eye Makeup

Edgy Eye Makeup Ideas

All it takes to give an edgier look to your eye makeup, is take a few of these eye makeup ideas and experiment with colors outside your normal palette. Push the makeup boundaries further by playing with eyeliner color, application techniques and colored mascara. Here are a few ideas:
Bling
For something really wild and sumptuous, try pairing up eyeliner colors to create a double line. Pick the base eyeshadow color and apply. Add some gold eyeshadow behind your eyelid and blend lightly.
Use a thick line of dark mahogany eyeliner, and then draw a thin gold line over it, near the lashes. Add some fake eyelashes or gold mascara on the tips of your lashes. This technique definitely makes your eyes stand out and get noticed.
Gothic
For very gothic eye makeup, go with black, black and black. If you use eyeshadow, stick to dark and smoky shades. Line each eye, top and bottom, in black eyeliner. Add a few coats of jet black mascara and you're finished.
Dramatic
Sometimes it's all about the drama, and your eyes are no exception. Cover your eyelid and area below the eyebrow with a shimmering eyeshadow a little lighter than your natural skin tone. Make sure it looks even and doesn't start too close to your nose.
Add a very light dusting of any fun eyeshadow hue to the eyelid, such as lilac or jade. The light eyeshadow and fun eyeshadow should combine and result in a very light version of the fun color.
Carefully line your eyes with glittery silver eyeliner. Do not use the eyeliner at the front of the eye, near the nose. Start back a tiny bit and line both the upper and lower lid. Have the lines meet in a small point on the outside of each eye to give a subtle cat-eye effect. Now apply your black mascara, dust a little silver glitter over your eyelids and you're good to go.

Easy Eye Makeup Tricks

Could you use a few easy eye makeup tricks? If you're like most women, you've got plenty to do each morning when you're trying to get out the door for work. You'd love your makeup to look fabulous, but you don't know what to do without setting aside a solid half hour for your eyes alone.
If you want to make your eyes appear closer together, try applying light colored eye shadow to your eyelids. Next, add a medium shade of shadow to the inner corner of your eyelids and blend it out to the outer corner. Apply eyeliner all the way across your eyelid and apply two light coats of mascara.
If you want to make your eyes appear farther apart, use a light colored eye shadow across your entire eyelid and sweep it just past the inside corner of your eye. Follow with a darker shade, but start the application at the middle of your eyelid and sweep it outward. Blend well. Apply eyeliner, but don't start at the inner corner of your eyelid. Instead, start near the inner corner of the eye and sweep out to the outer edge of the lid. Apply several light coats of mascara, concentrating on the outer corners of your lashes.
To emphasize the color of your eyes, use a contrasting tone of eyeshadow. If you have light colored eyes, use a darker shadow. If your eyes are dark, use a lighter eyeshadow. For blue eyes, use a charcoal or dark tan eyeshadow with a dark brown or black eyeliner and mascara on both upper and lower lids and lashes. For brown eyes, use a peach, pink or light green eyeshadow. Again, use a brown or black eyeliner and mascara. If you have green eyes, try lavender, pink, beige or brown shadow. Use brown or black eyeliner and black mascara.
You can use a darker shade in the creases if you like, but dark shadow over much of your lid will make your eyes recede and look smaller. Use shades like peach, pink, gold or tan shades for the lid. Now apply an even lighter shade right in the middle of your eyelid. You can also try using a pastel shadow on the inner corner of your eyes and a darker shade on the outer corner.
Lined Up
Apply a thin line of eyeliner, right at the base of the lashes. Try using a softer color of eyeliner than a severe black. Smudge the liner slightly to avoid a harsh line.Curl your lashes and then apply mascara. Use two or three thin coats of mascara and be sure to let each coat dry in between applications. Place the mascara wand at the very roots of your lashes and pull it smoothly all the way to the ends in a single, smooth stroke. Eyebrow Action
Shaping your eyebrows will also make your small eyes look larger. Leave the inner part of your eyebrow a bit thicker and create an arch. Use an eyebrow pencil or powder to fill an any sparse spots of your brow.

How to Apply Eyeshadow

To learn how to apply eyeshadow, start by identifying which colors flatter your eyes and your skin tones, without competing with them. Once you know what looks good on you, practice your technique with the classic three-tone look that accentuates lid, crease and brow bone.
Colors
Eyeshadow colors need to pair well with not only your eye color but also your skin tone. Ideally, the eyeshadow color should stay darker than your skin color and should make your eye color sparkle.
Choosing the exact same hue as your eyes can actually create a dull effect, rather than a sparkling one. Blue eyes look fantastic with browns and coppers, not purples and pinks. Green eyes tend to sparkle with purples or light browns.
Hazel eyes look amazing with a hint of green or light purple eyeshadow. Brown eyes can pull off most colors, such as green, purple, blue and brown. If you're lucky enough to have those elusive lavender-colored eyes, there's not much that can keep them from looking lovely, but avoid any heavy purples that drown the special color out.
Application
Always tap excess powder from the brush when applying eyeshadow. Using small amounts of makeup to build up the hue gives you greater control over the look. It's easy to apply more color if needed, but it can be messy to remove heavy color if you overdo it. The same goes for cream eyeshadow, but be warned that cream eyeshadow can crease easily.
For a more powerful and natural look, avoid using only one shade of eyeshadow. Your eyes look best when they're accentuated, not made a solid block of color. Ideally, you should apply a base hue, a midtone hue and an accent hue.
Exact placement of the three eyeshadow hues depends on your eye shape and the look you desire. The base hue is darkest and should go in areas you want noticed. The midtone blends the base and skin tones to help look natural. The accent works to accentuate delicate areas and is usually worn near the upper brow.

Eyeshadow Tips for Brown Eyes

Brown eyes may be the most dominant and common eye color, but they're anything but plain and common. Experiment with these eyeshadow tips to add sparkle and shine.
Almost any eyeshadow color looks fantastic with brown eyes, but there are still a few eyeshadow tips to keep in mind. Avoid using any eye makeup that's the same color as your eyes. Brown doesn't need to be accented with the same brown. Instead, use a hue a little lighter or darker than your eye color to help bring out the depth of your peepers.
Basic cream, beige, tan, taupe, dark brown and chocolate brown are better tones for brown eyes that just plain brown. Amber, mahogany, copper and gold also look stunning, but only when used lightly as a highlight or accent for other tones.
Blue eyeshadow looks better with brown eyes than any other eye color. The sharp and playful contrast help make your eyes seem bright and rich. Never overdo the blue, though. Try taking advantage of the complete array of blue accent color, such as turquoise, navy, baby or crystal blue.
Green can match well with brown eyes, especially if your eye color leans towards a hazel hue. Stick with smoky greens, such as khaki, olive or forest green to preserve a sultry look. Use jade, grass or lime green in small amounts to makes your look outright funky.
The best thing about having brown eyes is the fun colors you can incorporate into your eye makeup. Plum, burnt orange, coral, aqua and burgundy are all suitable eyeshadow tones. These aren't hues that you want to use in a heavy amounts or as part of your daily look for the office, but they're great for a night on the town.
Remember that the best eyeshadow for brown eyes also depends on your exact skin tone. If you have a yellow tint to your flesh, you should probably stay away from any hues with heavy amounts of yellow. If you tend to appear flushed, then obviously you want to stay away from rosy or red-based hues

How to Apply Eye Makeup to Green Eyes

Eye makeup for green eyes encompasses a wide range of color options. The key is to choose eye makeup colors that don't compete with your eye's natural shade of green.
Any eyeshadow shades that are mostly yellow will also drown out green eyes. The yellow swallows the startling green and makes the white of your eyes look dull. Jade, amber and even neon orange may work for you, but canary, lemon or mustard are out of the question.
It's important to never let your eyeshadow compete with your eyes for attention. Let your eye color remain sparkling by using any eyeshadow color except one that matches your eyes. Go with a creamier green, a darker green or a smokier green, but never match your eye color and eye shadow exactly.
Pure and bold blue eyeshadows tend to look unflattering with green eyes, especially if it's used as a base color. But blue-green colors, such as turquoise, can appear attractive, especially if your color is more hazel. The blue-green hue will help bring out more green than brown in your eyes. Light blues work well for base, accent or tiny highlight.
Grey and silver tones pair well with green eyes, but be careful of creating a look that's too icy or harsh. Smoky hues will help the green really pop out and look great mixed with almost any other color.
Most browns appear very flattering with green eyes, but only if those eyes are true green. If your eyes tend to look hazel or brown sometimes, then brown eyeshadow will make them appear more brown than green.
To keep those green flecks sparkling, use creamy and/or blended brown colors, such as fawn, tan or mocha. Bring out any gold flecks in your eyes by using accents and highlights in gold, copper or bronze hues.
Properly applied purple eyeshadow is fantastic for a funky but flattering look with green eyes. Never use purple as a base shade, or you'll end up looking like you have two black eyes. Instead use almost any shade of purple, such as lavender or periwinkle, as an accent or blended color.

Eyeshadow Tips and Tricks

These eyeshadow tips will take you from good looking to gorgeous. The eyes are the first thing most people notice about your face, so knowing how to apply your eyeshadow correctly is the key to showing them off.
Eyeshadow comes in a huge variety of colors and is available in creams, powders and pencils. Although your options may seem overwhelming at first, you can use your eyeshadow to accentuate the positive and camouflage the negative.
Cream or Powder?
Eyeshadow is available in either creams or powders. Creams are nice because you can usually apply them in one stroke, but powder eyeshadows last longer and tend to provide a sheer cover. If you like a cream eyeshadow, you can apply a matching powder on top of the cream to increase its staying power. For many women, the ultimate eyeshadows are the cream-to-powder shadows that go on as a cream and dry to a powder, giving you the best of both worlds. Ultimately, the choice between cream and powder is a matter of preference. Try both and see which one works better for your skin type.
You may want to try using an eyeshadow primer before applying shadow. A primer provides a smooth base that will allow easier application of the shadow and keep the shadow on longer. You can use a translucent powder as a primer to avoid having to purchase a separate product.
Choosing Colors for Your Skin Tone and Eye Color
When it comes to color choices for eyeshadow, the number-one rule is to test different colors and wear what you like best. However, there are some general guidelines as to which colors work best for certain skin tones and eye colors.
Fair skin: You can wear most eyeshadow colors, but keep them in the lighter shades, especially for daytime wear. If your hair is dark, you can go with slightly darker eyeshadow colors. Medium plums, purples, lavenders, greens or blues all work, but line your eyes with the same color as your shadow.
Olive-toned skin: Colors in the brown family work well for a subtle look. Choose the ones that are slightly darker than your skin tone, or try a gold that really glimmers and shines. Other colors to try include greens, aquas, purples and blues. Use an off-white, shiny shadow on your brow bone to make your eyes really stand out.
Golden-toned skin: Apply pale gray, slate blue, purple or pink on the lids and one shade darker in the crease for accent. Highlight the brow bone with off-white shadow.
Light brown skin: Brown shadow with a shimmer works beautifully, but don't shy away form vibrant shades like greens, blues or purples. Keep the shadow sheer, and use one that sparkles.
Dark skin: Try eyeshadow that is one shade lighter than your skin tone. Try using a shadow with gold or silver flecks of shine. If you prefer a little more color, use deep shades of purple or burgundy and line the eye with dark colors.
Most experts don't advocate trying to match your eyeshadow to your eye color. Instead, follow these guidelines: Green eyes look great with purples, bronzes or browns; blue eyes perk up with peaches, yellow and golds; and for brown eyes, anything goes.
Day to Night: Which Colors Make the Transition Best?
When you are applying makeup for daytime, you can use just a base color and mascara. At night, you want a more dramatic look. This is best achieved by using darker colors with lots of sparkle and shine. Because using a wet brush will intensify powder shadow colors, you can use the same shadow from day to night, but use the wet brush for your evening application. Shimmery cosmetics are great for adding interest, but be careful not to overdo it, or you will call attention to those lines and wrinkles that you would rather hide.
How to Apply Eyeshadow
Start with a natural concealer that matches your skin tone, or use a primer. This will give you the smoothest, longest-lasting coverage. For basic eyes, use the lightest shade of shadow from the lash line to the brow line. Use a medium shade on the lid and a third color along the lash line and outer corner of your eyes. You can also use that third color in the crease of your eye to add depth, as long as it is the darkest of the three shades.
Try using an eyeshadow brush, rather than a sponge-tipped applicator. A brush is wonderful for blending and offers a nice sheer coverage. Load the brush with shadow, and then blow off the excess before applying. Wash your brushes every couple of weeks with a light shampoo and dry them flat, rather than standing on end. Also, if you love to use different eyeshadow colors, purchase more than one brush and keep the color families separate so they don't bleed over into each other, leaving you with a muddy-looking mess.
Using Eyeshadows to Fix Those Flaws
Eyeshadow can work wonders to camouflage flaws in the eye and nose area. For close-set eyes, keep the inside corners of the eyes lighter than the outer corners. Use concealer that is one shade lighter than your skin at the inner corner of your eyes and on the sides of your nose. Use a matte shadow in a medium to dark shade, and sweep it outward and upward, starting at the middle of the lid and going toward the outer half.
If your eyes are wide-set, do the opposite. Emphasize those inner corners by using a neutral base and then dusting on a medium to dark color on the inner half of the eyelid, blending outward. You want the most color on the inner half and then let it lighten up as you blend outward. Use eyeliner to line the lid from the inner corner to the middle of the eye. Again, blend outward, lightening up as you go.

Funky Eye Makeup Ideas

Funky eye makeup ideas are not for the faint of heart. The next time you're looking to spice it up a bit, get your funk on.
White Out
The White Out has got to be one of the funkiest eye makeup ideas ever dreamt up by a female with an eyelash curler. If you want a look with an otherworldly appeal, this one is it.
Start by curling your eyelashes with an eyelash curler. Next, add three or more coats of white eyeshadow - a pearl or metallic formula works best. Now, line those lids with white eyeliner. Use a nice thick line and add a light coating of petroleum jelly so they take on a special sheen. Finish off with several coats of jet-black mascara. For an extra kick, use glitter mascara.
Stardust
Curl your lashes and then apply either a silver or a metallic while eye shadow over the entire lid of your eye. Line the upper lid with silver or white glitter eyeliner. The glitter is the key with this look. Don't apply it too thick, but make sure shine is visible. Next, lightly dust the lid with some loose glitter powder. Coat those lashes with glitter or jet black mascara. Your final step is to add a bit of silver cream right above your cheekbones to highlight your look and give your whole face a beautiful glow.
When it comes to eye makeup application, it's always best to add light layers and build, rather than one heavy layer. Take time to practice your funky eye makeup ideas before you wear them out to make sure you get them just right.

Gray Tales From 2010 Teen Choice Awards

So who caught the Teen Choice Awards last night ?

Not me.

I don't have TV.
I have Hulu !

But I had to check out who turned up at the awards and who wore what and how.
Two gray looks caught my eye.

One - Selena Gomez .
I know her, naturally.

Two - Jojo.
I bet google knows her.

If I had to try one look on myself it would have to be Selena's look.
Naturally (Sorry I cant help it)
Love how simple and cute it is. Plus I don't really need much of blending skills for it.

Jojo's on the other hand is super mega smokey. With lots of long curled lashes.
Not a look for me. I have no where to go looking so glamorous.

What about you ? What look would you pick to try on yourself ?

Around The Web World

Its been a day of roaming on the web this Saturday morning...
err afternoon
Its not my fault I woke up at ...
ummm 1 PM ?

No really its not my fault. I sat up till 4 AM reading this book. Its a must read - I am 100 pages into the book and its opened my eyes for the second time.
First was with Food Inc.

So yeah morning is anytime you wake up. At 1, I woke up, got my coffee and sat roaming aimlessly online. Its amazing how you jump from one place to another. I wish it were that easy in real life !

First up - Miss USA's Food Diary !

She has an amazingly fit body. And the girl eats well too. She doesn't eat meat other than fish so you'll see how her food is basically veggies and wheat bread ! The whole carb free diet is a little stupid. I am learning more on it and will be sure to get back to you with the list that convinces me so. But more than anything - we've been eating bread for eons ! So hats off to Miss USA for eating bread.

I do get easily impressed, don't I !

Also we are more similar than different. The only real difference is the tiny body. The girl loves her Honey Bunches Of Oats cereal - its my fav too !!! I buy truck loads of it during my once in six months trip to Costco.

Sake Is For Your Face Too !

Cate Blanchett's ( love !) favorite skincare line SKII has its signature ingredient - Pitera, that was discovered during a scientist's trip to a sake factory in Japan.

Pitera, was discovered purely by chance. About thirty years ago, a scientist noticed that the hands of workers at a Japanese saké brewery looked beautiful and young. This was the inspiration behind five years of research by a team of scientists who screened through over 300 types of yeasts and refined the precise conditions for fermentation, leading to the discovery of SK-II's signature ingredient, Pitera.

Derived from a unique yeast's fermentation, Pitera is a blend of vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and organic acids that work together to allow the skin's natural surface rejuvenation process to function at its prime, enhancing the renewal of the skin's outer layer. Continued usage of Pitera leads to clearer looking, smoother skin.

So I did some research online and found this article which talks about why sake can be used to reduce age spots, skin discolorations and freckles !

Man Oh Man, do I love sake ! Not much for alcohol. Hate Wine. There is only one beer I love and drink on occasion - say two time a year. But Sake - I use sake a lot while cooking. I plan on starting a food blog / food diary blog and when I do - I will be sure to talk more on my love for sake in food !

I Have My Buffet Shirt. I Need These Buffet Pants.

Have you ever eaten at a Chinese / Mongolian buffet ?

I have. More times than I'd like to talk about.

Man - are they good ! Imagine all you favorite foods at one place.
Now imagine eating them.

***Gimme a second to wipe off my salivating mouth***

I swear I was east Asian in my last birth. Though I'm Indian, Asian food is my comfort food. And now comforting myself will be easier with the expanding gluttony pants !

My Food Diary

I wanna lose five pounds to get into my college weight - a weight when I fit into all my clothes well and felt not fat. It is by no means thin, but its my happy weight. I like some meat on my bones. Back then I used to work out almost two hours a day. whatever happened to that machine who ran 30 minutes, cycled 30 minutes, elliptical 30- 45 minutes - that cardio girl died. I must revive her. But looks like its gonna be hard waking her up. So I've started doing the other thing - maintaining a food diary.

There are days when I am feeling gluttonous but mostly I am just normal with food. I wanna lose five pounds. ten would be freakin awesome but five will make me happy. And because this is essentially a beauty / make up blog I don't wanna bombard it with food images like this one - today's lunch. Hence the thought of opening a food blog...

How is your Saturday ? Are you an early riser ? I don't hate you - just extremely jealous.

More Bollywood

Jacqueline Fernandes - the new girl in Bollywood. I think she has the cutest smile ! Love pairing pink cheeks and lips with a green gown. Its an effortless combo.

Vidya Balan - I guess the new thing in Bollywood is to dress like the character you're playing in your up coming movie ? In character or not - its hard to go wrong with frizz free hair, great skin, natural looking makeup and kajal !

My mom would ask her to wear a necklace. She is just not a fan of plain neck with a saree.
I cant do sarees so I am just in awe that she is wearing one.

Deepika Padukone
- love the bangs. Reminds me of Maduri Dixit circa 1992. If there was one thing I could switch with her it would be a hard choice between

the height
the small waist
gorgeous brows
those dimples
big beautiful eyes
flawless skin...
Its gonna be hard. Very hard.

Sonam Kapoor - Not a huge fan of the girl but that doesn't stop me from admiring her clothes and makeup ! Love the purple punch !
And that earring - Lordy Lord ! Its so cool ! I want it .

I don't wear earrings.
But I still want it.

I don't have a neck as long as hers.
And I still want it.

I have no where to go wearing it.
I still want it.
Now.

Celina Jaitley - Great hair !
I know the girl gets a lot of flack for her makeup choices - but I have begun to see it this way. She is comfortable doing this and has been doing it a while despite what anybody tells her. And being a celebrity I am sure anybody and everybody has something to say. So I guess its time to leave it alone and just accept it as her look !

Borghese Illuminare Brightening Hand Serum : Review

It says illuminare and brightening so the 13 year old in me assumed sparkles. I guess she also got a little excited about it. But then the more practical 26 year old in me went - no way do I need that. Sparkly hands which then rub sparkles off on my face making me look like the glittery 13 year old who began this whole thing in the first place.

Smooth & Soft - Naturally !

But curiosity kicked in and I checked the ingredient list - lots of natural extracts like olive oil, licorice, grape seed (great moisturizer), lemon ( natural brightener) , licorice (helps with discoloration) and a bunch of other scientific names of plants. Apart from this I also saw collagen known to keep skin younger, firmer and healthy looking. I couldn't miss out on all this goodness, so I decided to try it at night and pulled the bottle out. Two squirts later - I had super soft hands which guzzled the serum in ten seconds and no sign of sparkles. I tried it on the next day and no sparkles in day time either ! Thank you, 13 year old.

The product gives me sparkle free, soft hands into which the serum sinks almost immediately. No greasy or slippery feeling either. Something else I noticed was that it gave my hands a smoother look - almost like what a face primer does but without the powdery feeling. That being said, I wish it didn't come in a glass bottle. I have a hard time carrying any glass container around. Its too delicate for me. Also, I am still looking for that radiant glow it promises.

This Illuminare serum was especially created to help with minimizing dark spots and uneven skin tones on hands. Though I am a little young for dark spots I am rather happy I tried this for its non greasy moisturizing and smoothing properties ! I know my mom will like this one !

Borghese products can be found at Ulta, CVS, Walgreens.

Have you ever mistaken a product based on its name alone ? Tell me I'm not alone y'all .

Summer Makeup Tutorial : Look # 3 - ' Dinner ' In The Sun

Last weekend I went out for dinner at this tiny hole in the wall Korean restaurant to experience the most delicious Korean food of my life. I still cant stop talking about it. So so good ! And this is the makeup I wore on my dinner date. I had on a sunny yellow and blue shirt so I wanted to keep my face a little mellow but not too much so. To match a bit with my shirt I added a little blue along the lower lash line.

I loved how it tuned out. I now love with my Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Palette even more ! And its so easy !

How To :

1. Apply concealer all over lids and under eye
I used Smashbox HD Concealer - Medium

2. Apply lid primer
I used Smashbox Photofinish Primer - Naked Beauty

3. Apply the taupe shade from the Estee Lauder Blue Dahlia Palette all over the lid

4. Apply a darker taupe on the outer V and blend into the crease
Rec : MAC Satin taupe

5. Add dark blue eyeliner along the lower waterline and upper lash line (very thin)
I used Smashbox jet Set Waterproof eyeliner - Navy Blue

6. Add the sea blue shade along the outer corner of lower lash line from the Blue Dahlia Palette.

7. Add mascara - Flirt It Curl Mascara.

Lips : LORAC Liquid Lipstick - Glam

Cheeks : LORAC Satin Blush - Velvet Rope
